I am an experienced grief counsellor, mentor, facilitator, nurse and adult educator, with a lived/living experience of having and caring for family members suffering with chronic mental ill-health and suicidality. I was recently diagnosed autistic, and sadly have experienced domestic and sexual violence in my youth due to not knowing or understanding social situations by being neurodivergent. I am warm and caring with a sense of humour, and I use reflective practice encouraging creativity, and offer a presence of genuine authenticity and compassion in our sessions.
My Doctor of Creative Arts explored the intergenerational transference of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and family violence as I endeavoured to explore why people I love suffer. I now promote the use of creative writing and art to create a voice for the voicelessness of trauma, and to generate healing, recovery and post-traumatic growth.
I currently hold several senior lived experience consultancy, advisory, education and research roles with national, state and regional suicide prevention and mental health organisations. I have held senior management positions in corporate and non-government organisations. I advocate for policy and service improvements, and to generate greater understanding of mental ill-health to create compassion for those living with mental unwellness or suicidality. I also live with autoimmune health conditions and struggle with intermittent immobility and chronic pain, so I can relate to those suffering with physical impairments and obstacles.
I really look forward to partnering with you on your journey of self exploration and support, and I know we will grow together.
