Protecting your privacy

Privacy Policy

Thank you for accessing the website of the Australian Clinical Supervision Association (ACSA). We respect your privacy and want to protect your personal information. We take your online safety seriously. To learn more, please read our Privacy Policy, which we outline below.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

The information we collect

We believe it’s important for you to know what types of information we collect when you use our site. The information includes your Email, Name, Street Address, Postcode, City, Country, Telephone Number, Username (when you are registered to login), and so on.

We collect this information in several different ways: to begin with, we use cookies that are needed to compile and aggregate non-personally identifiable information about the visitors to our website. Personally identifiable information consists of information that is unique to you, such as credit card number and bank account numbers. This information is unique to you. We do not keep your credit card or direct debit information on file or on our website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Check out the Gravatar service privacy policy for yourself. After approval of your comment by ACSA moderators, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

When you submit a message via the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message. Once messages are answered, we will keep your message for two weeks for customer service purposes, and then delete your information. We do not use your information for marketing purposes.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How we use your information

When you join ACSA, we will use your information in the following ways.

  1. To personalise your experience (your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs).
  2. To improve our website (we continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you).
  3. To improve customer service (your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and your support needs).
  4. To process transactions (your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other person, association or company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested by the customer).
  5. To send periodic emails (the email address you provide for order processing may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your order, in addition to receiving occasional association news, updates, and related product or service information, etc.).
  6. To administer a promotion, survey or other site feature (we may sometimes promote a resource, or canvass your views on a topic).

Who we share your data with

We do not share your data with any third party providers, excluding payment processors (e.g., PayPal and Direct Debit). When you sign up for any list options, such as Newsletter and Conference Updates, you will automatically be placed on a MailChimp mailing list. You can unsubscribe from mailing lists at any time.

By default, WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
